Get ready to endure, and survive!

The wait is FINALLY over. Naughty Dog and PlayStation finally released a long anticipated amount of information surrounding 2019’s most anticipated game of the year,

The Last of Us Part 2.

Seriously, I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been waiting for this day since, the first game. So let’s talk about what we got to see yesterday during PlayStation’s, State of Play.

Back, and better than ever.

I just want to begin by saying how incredible it is that PlayStation can fit so much into a twenty minute segment. They featured a lot of great new footage, and games, but the highlight was definitely the new trailer that dropped at the end of the lineup. After months and months of being left in question after the last trailer in debut at E3 in 2018, we finally have a lot of answers to the questions burning in the back of our minds.

For starters, and my favorite piece of information, Joel’s alive! Even better than that, we know that he’ll be traveling with Ellie for at least part of the game! This dynamic duo tugged the heartstrings of players back in 2013. I can hardly wait to see how their relationship developed over the years after the open-ended finish to the first game where Joel lied to Ellie about the Fireflies. I’m also curious to see how much, if at all that they address that issue between them. Regardless, the nostalgia of seeing these two together ensures that we can expect some developments to the gem the first game truly was.

New Trauma = New Ellie

Naughty Dog also revealed to us a hinted version of what I’m sure will be Ellie’s motive for getting revenge. This fortifies the idea that Naughty Dog released in an early release, that the game would be centered around the idea of “hate” instead of “hope”. Of course, if you see the could be love of your life get shot, that should be enough to move you to “kill each and every one of them”.

My hope is that we still get to see that heart and child-like excitement that comes from the Ellie we know, and love. Either way, I’m excited to see what our kickass female lead can do this time around.

Lots of great stuff to look forward to in the coming months, and I personally can’t wait for it’s release in February. Until then, “endure and survive”!
